Happy Friday…I hope you all have had a great week.
You know me well enough to know that you never know what you are going to get when you tune in to my blog each week. There are times that I write it for you, and there are times that I write it for me…but, it is called “Gary’s Blog”, so I guess that ok…LOL. Today, this blog is for all of us.
Have you ever had one of those friends that push you out of your comfort zone? I mean, really, REALLY pushes you outside of your comfort zone. I do. Her name is Jill. Jill was my first friend when I moved to Dallas. We were inseparable. I told Jill when she was screwing up and she returned the favor. We had not been in contact for quite a few years. I would like to say it was because our lives took different paths…career, marriage, children, etc.; however, if I’m going to be totally honest, I knew that if we connected, she and I were both going to push each other out of our comfort zones about some things in our lives that neither of us were ready or willing to change.
Out of the blue, Jill calls me. She says, “I have been following you…I follow your blog, I follow you on Facebook and I have really seen you grow and evolve over the past few years. I need you in my life right now and I feel that you need me in yours”.
Jill came over last night and what I thought was going to be an evening of catching up, remembering old times and gossiping about old friends ended up being a very late evening of pushing each other out of our comfort zones. After a margarita, (or maybe two), she said, “You have really been on my mind lately, and I made you something”. She grabbed her purse and pulled out a magnet that was very similar to the photo above.
Just to preface this, Jill is one of the funniest, creative and intuitive people that I know. She is also a marketing genius, starting and selling 5 companies on her own. She focuses on solutions, not problems.
When I read the words on the magnet, it hit me like a ton of bricks and those three words “ARE YOU HAPPY” literally kept me up or night…or maybe it was the two that followed, “CHANGE SOMETHING”.
My happiness is my choice. That is something that I have 100% control and ownership of…that is the one thing that every one of us have in common.
When you think of yourselves and your business ARE YOU HAPPY? If you are, that’s great, keep doing what you are doing. If you’re not, then it’s time for the really tough question, DO YOU WANT TO BE? There are only two answers to that question…YES or NO…CHANGE SOMETHING or keep doing what you are doing.
As you look at where you are in life and with your business, I encourage all of you to take these questions and follow the same flow chart:
-
Am I happy with my business?
-
Am I happy with my income?
-
Am I happy with the sales at my Spa?
-
Am I having fun doing this business?
-
Do I have a loyal list of clients that re-order on a regular basis?
-
Am I seen as a business owner?
-
Do I see myself as a business owner?
-
Do I have a team of selling consultants who are helping me grow?
-
Am I a good leader?
-
Do I surround myself with people who want to help me find solutions rather than those who complain about the problems?
-
Am I looking for solutions rather than being crippled by the problems?
-
Am I focused on the potential success of my future rather than hanging on to the baggage of the past?
-
Am I thinking for myself rather than letting others influence and create my opinions/thoughts/attitude for me?
-
Do I surround myself with people who are helping me GROW or causing me to SLOW?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING! If the answer is NO…then what are the things that need to change?
I put the magnet that Jill gave me on my computer. I will look at it every day and take it to heart. Each of us is bigger than we give ourselves credit for. Life is not a prison sentence…we are free to be happy. Our happiness in life and in our business is in our control…maybe that’s why it’s called BeautiControl…because that is a pretty beautiful thing.
Change is never easy, but it is inevitable. More importantly, change is CRUCIAL in order for you to grow. Sometimes we stand in the way of our own success because we don't ask ourselves the tough questions. The simple fact of the matter is this...if we aren't growing, then we're slowing.
In the spirit of friendship and the spirit of growth, I hope this message touches you the way that it has touched me.
I hope you have a great weekend and please be sure to check back on Monday where we talk about how to make July the HOTTEST sales month of the year!
