Ok, so we are DEEP into the planning process for 2013 - 2015 over the next few weeks and while are already deep in the trenches with exciting new formulas well into 2013, it is time to survey you all on our core product line, BC Spa Facial. We are now 8 month into the year, and I want to know what you think of the line. I want your candid feedback as it relates to each of the formulas, packaging, etc. The survey is 10 short questions and it will not take long to fill out. Your opinion is important to us!

That's right...BeautiControl will be walking the runways at Fashion week this year for a star-studded Fashion week experience that you all will love to be a part of.
BeautiControl was such a success last year, that we were invited back to co-sponsor and provide makeup/hair for each of the Style 360 Shows, as well as re-unite with Irina Shabayeva (you may remember her from Project Runway and remember when we provided hair and makeup for her first NYC Fashion show), in tandem with Audi and Swarovski to co-sponsor her Spring 2012 Fashion Show.
This is very exciting. Not only do we get to participate in the incredible Style 360 Shows, which feature emerging creative designers that are sure to get a great deal of media attention, but we really have the opportunity to get very up close and personal with the designers and play a very key role in the makeup design and selection for the shows. I can't really go into too much detail on her show, since she has not publically released any information about it, but I can tell you that it is going to be eBeautiful! I have to start this by saying THANK YOU to all my special friends in Northern California for an amazing few days. We had 3 wonderful events and I had the opportunity to spend some quality time with some very good friends and the opportunity to make many new ones. You all have touched my heart in a very special way, and I hope you know how much you all mean to me. RVP Brian Dill and I had an amazing time with all of you, and I have to brag on Brian when I say...HE ROCKS! WOW...what a heart! I wouldn't trade one minute of these past few days for anything...well, except for the bruises, aching lower back and stiff neck as a result from my first wake boarding and tubing experience...LOL.
You've heard me talk a lot about celebrating our 30th anniversary this year and what a landmark moment that is. If you are like me, you can remember what it meant to turn 30. I can remember really stressing about it for a few months before it actually happened. To me, and to many of you, turning 30 meant it was time to take an assessment of my life...the good, the bad and sometimes the very ugly...and decide who I was, who I am and who I am going to become. We are the sum of our experiences, and I truly believe that with every win, every loss and bad decision we learn lessons that make us who we are and help guide us into the future. The same holds true for a company that turns 30. We, as a management team here at the home office, did some really deep soul searching. We took a very in-depth look at who we were (what we did right and what we did...hmmm...not so right), who we are and who we want to be.

Today, I can't say that I would say the same thing. Today, however, if you were to ask me the same question, my answer would be completely different. Today, my answer would be, "We change the lives of women, men, children and families. Its no secret to any of you that I am not a woman (at least I hope it's not...hah!); however, I have had the opportunity to be around a few hundred thousand of them in my career and consider myself a student of women. You have heard me say this before, but to all of you women out there...I admire, respect and am humbled by the demands that are placed on every one of you. You are a daughter, a wife, a mother, a care-giver, a nurturer, a bridge-builder...and the list goes on. By nature you self-less and you give and you nurture and you feel the responsibility to take care of everyone and be everything to everyone. Many times; however, in the process, the one you don't take care of is YOU. You give so much to everyone else that there is nothing left for you. I have seen so many women completely lose themselves...their identity, their dreams, their passions. As a result, taking time to pamper yourself, create those personal connections with other women and fulfill YOUR dreams aren't always a luxury that you give yourselves...at least without feeling just a little bit guilty, right?
That's where we come in. We are more than a product company. We awaken the beauty inside of every woman and give her the opportunity to dream bigger than she ever thought possible. We connect women. Overall, Cools should focus on wearing more blue-based colors and Warms should focus on wearing more yellow-based colors, on or near their face.
There is a science to choosing the best colors to compliment your individual skin coloring. Natural hair and brow color are key factors to determining your Color Personality. Artificially coloring your hair does not affect whether you are Cool or Warm. The determinant is your natural hair color, like you had as a child. Your current color may determine Subtle or Intense, but not affect Cool or Warm. All too often, women make wrong choices in both their wardrobe and cosmetic color selections based on what is “on trend” for the season. There are so many women that feel “made up” when they use makeup. Often, the issue is not with using makeup – the issue is choosing the wrong colors. When you choose colors that contrast your skin’s natural coloring, it can look unnatural and overly made up. When you choose colors that blend with your skin’s coloring, rather than fighting with your skin’s coloring, your makeup will look natural and highlight your features – even when using bolder shades.

Are there ways I could communicate better with each of the Style Personalities?
Yes! Our natural tendency is to communicate to our clients and our Spa guests in our own communication style. To best connect and improve our client relationships, we have to learn how to talk to each of them in the style that they prefer to communicate. The eBeauti Style profile will help you tailor your communication style to each of the different personalities.
Take someone who’s Naturally Chic. She’s probably the most skeptical of the bunch. It’s not that she doesn’t want to use a skin care or wear makeup, she just needs to know how. She likes the facts. She is the client who is “up to date” on the latest information as it relates to the “toxic dangers” of skin care products. She is naturally a bit of a skeptic and you will need to prove yourself to her as well as prove the quality and integrity of your product line. Initially, she won’t make huge purchases, especially because she likes to have all the facts before she makes a purchase. She may say something like, “I’ll break out, my skin is so sensitive.” Talk about the BeautiControl Research Institute, and BeautiControl’s commitment to product testing and safety. When working with the Naturally Chic, make sure you are well prepared and have your facts at hand. She will ask a lot of questions, so be prepared. You may think she is being skeptical and pessimistic, but it is worth it once she has your trust. Give her time to think. She is economical and practical. She’ll be a faithful skin care re-order customer once she is sold and eBeauti Color will lead her to more confidence in her makeup choices. When you sell to the Naturally Chic personality, show her products that are practical, easy to use and fit into her no-nonsense regimen. Tell her to keep her cleanser and scrub in the shower to be part of her shower routine. Don’t over-expose her to too many additional products too quickly. When showing her color cosmetics and application tips, teach her how to get multiple looks with fewer products. Next, let’s talk about a client who is Dramatically Glam. She is one popular gal. She is charming and outgoing and known as “a people person”. She LOVES meeting new people and being in the spotlight. She loves to turn gatherings into social events, and because of her engaging personality, everyone loves to be around her. She has an eye for color and will always remember what color you were wearing and when. It’s not surprising that she buys on impulse and wants the hottest products and lots of attention from you and everyone else. She is usually the first person to speak up at the Spa and the first one that you look at when you get to the Spa and scope the room for your 1 recruit per Spa. She lives in the moment and is very now, now, now. Everything sounds great and sounds like fun for the Dramatically Glam. Because she is so enthusiastic and can inspire others to join her in the things that she does, she is definitely the person you pin-point as a potential New Consultant…and you know what? If you ask her, you will more than likely get her. Now here’s the catch, the Dramatically Glam has a tendency to play the field a little bit…she moves quickly from one thing to another. Have you ever met someone like this? You know her, she is the one that says, “oh my gosh, I am so excited. I have found the perfect business. It is so awesome and I love selling the products…they are the best products ever…you should have a party”. Then, you run into her again a few months later and she grabs you and says, “Oh my gosh, I am so excited. I have found the perfect business. It is so awesome and I love selling the products…they are the best products EVER…you should have a party”. Then you say, “I know…I had a party”. Then she says, “No, girl, this is a new business…this one is even better, this is so awesome. When you have a client or a Consultant on your team that is a Dramatically Glam, remember that she moves quickly and you have to keep her focused and maintain her attention. Make sure she gets to experience the products in person at the Spa. Don’t sell her too much at one time…keep something for follow-up…keep her wanting more. Her attention span is short and once the novelty has worn off, she is ready for something new. When you stop by to drop off an order, leave plenty of time for talk. Call her more often – she’s always buying and you want to make sure she’s buying it from you. Contact her when you have new products to show. Send her e-postcards on a regular basis…keep her attention. Because she is so social, she will be happy to have multiple Spas for you and is a great person to consider for helping you get referrals and new Spa Hostess leads. If she is ready to join, just remember to keep her excited and motivated. Because she will recruit Hostess and Consultants easily, she will have a lot of fast momentum and growth in her business. No one is quite as natural as a Consultant as the Dramatically Glam, but she is usually not going to stick around when it starts to feel too much like a J-O-B. When you are selling to the Dramatically Glam, show her the hottest trends, the latest products and how our products compare to those high-end, expensive department store brands. She is a very savvy consumer and she knows what’s out there, so it is up to you to show her how your products compare and that you, too, are up on the latest trends in both skin care treatments and fashion colors. Products such as the Spectaculash Thickening Primer and Maximum Length Mascara, BC Color Intense Mineral Shadow Trios, BC Color Intense Lip Cremes and more technology driven products like the Instant Face Lift products and Regeneration Tight, Firm & Fill Extreme Wrinkle Concentrate. Keep her on your e-postcard and e-newsletter mailing list every month so she can see that there is always something new and exciting for her to try.
Now, let’s discuss the Irresistibly Romantic. It’s no surprise that clients who fall into this category are looking for an emotional connection. Be sure to ask, “How are you doing?”, and listen to what she says. The Irresistibly Romantic personality is the calm, cool and collected type. She is not likely to speak up, ask a lot of questions and is fueled by the “feeling” that she gets from her experience with you. She prefers smaller, more intimate groups. She has many friends and shares a deep, emotional connection with those that she trusts. She wants to know that you have her best interest in heart and that you represent an ethical business with high quality, reputable products. When you are selling to the Romantic personality, share your passion for the products, let her try the products, then tell her how great she looks. She is going to love the more girly, girl aspects of the business and is likely to go for colors and textures that are more glossy and feminine. She will love the Spectaculash Mascara, BC Color Lip Glosses and the radiant glow that our BC Color Mineral Blush will give her. Let her feel how soft her skin feels after applying the skin care, or how relaxed she feels after the Relaxation section of the Spa. She will love the pampering products such as the Nourishing Eye Pads and Bath Soak. When demonstrating these products, be sure to tell her how rewarding it is for you to be able to share this special gift of relaxation with others. She is going to be emotionally drawn to the softer side of this business and the relationships that it can develop. Following up is essential after the Spa and throughout your client relationship. Send her a handwritten note that plays to her sentimental side. Frequent contact shows that you care and value her as a client. Once you have earned her trust, she will be loyal and she will provide lots of referrals once she gets to know you. Remember, she is very well connected and shares herself emotionally with her family and friends. She is the perfect hostess, the perfect client. This is the perfect candidate to employ as a lead generator for you. Offer her special discounts or free products for each new referral that she can give you. She is also a great seller Consultant if she should choose to join. Because she does not want to come across as pushy or aggressive, she is probably going to be less comfortable developing new Consultants; however, since she will often share the products with so many people, she will, by default, have people that want to join. This is where you can step in, offer your assistance and help develop those new Consultants with her. When she does find a new Consultant that wants to join, offer to hold her first Spa for her and be there to work with her to develop those new Consultants.
Our last eBeauti Style profile is Perfectly Polished. Make sure your Perfectly Polished client gets started with the right products and makes it part of her routine. She is interested in high quality, results driven products. She will love the results that the BC Spa Facial products will give her, as well as Regeneration Tight, Firm & Fill Face Creme and Eye Firming Serum. When choosing color products, she will likely opt for more traditional products like Lip Perfecting Pencils and Brow Perfecting Pencils…remember, she likes to look put-together at all times. While she may make decisions rather quickly, she is not one who changes once she finds something that works. She expects you to stay in touch with her through regular contact, but she is rarely stimulated by a lot of chit-chat. She wants products that work, but you don’t have to go into all the minute details of each product. Simple features and benefits are sufficient. She likes to be in charge, so let her try the products, then back up and let her make the decisions. She appreciates professionalism in the presentation. When she sees that this is your business, the two of you will have a mutual respect and a steady, long-term relationship. Stay in touch and she will be very faithful. She is brand-loyal. She trusts a reliable resource, and tools like eBeauti will impress her. She’ll be your client for life. The Perfectly Polished person is one you will definitely want on your client list and on your team. As a client she will broaden your clientele and expose you to a professional client base. As a Consultant, she will take charge and see this as a lucrative business building opportunity. She likes to lead, so you may find that she is more interested in building teams of sellers rather than one that is out there doing Spa after Spa.
Now that you understand some of the things that motivate each of the eBeauti Style Personalities, it is easy to see why it is good for you to make sure that your client and Consultant base has a good mix of each of them to balance the dynamics of your business.
To make it easy to remember, just remember the four Ps. The Naturally Chic is the “Perfectionist”, the Dramatically Glam is the “Popular”, the Irresistibly Romantic is the “Peaceful” and the Perfectly Polished is the “Professional”. Each one brings value to your client base and your team. Together, they will ensure that your business has the right dynamics to help perpetuate your business. You’ve heard the saying, “Like attracts Like”, right? Well, that is exactly why you need to surround yourself with people that are not exactly like you. When you create a diverse team of clients and Consultants, you will reach more people. Now that you know how to communicate with each of them, you can make sure that each of them gets exactly what they want out of our products and our opportunity.
Of course, there are exceptions to every rule, but now you have some ideas of how to work with customers once they complete their eBeauti Style quiz. And remember -- any customer who completes both the eBeauti Color and eBeauti Style quiz is truly interested in what you have to offer. Make sure, if they haven’t completed skin s.p.a. yet, you use that as a follow-up. Your goal should be to have each of your clients complete all three of our analysis tools – skin s.p.a., eBeauti Color & eBeauti Style.
What is the BeautiPrint?
Once a user has completed the eBeauti Color & Style Analysis, and their results are saved, when they come back to shop on a Consultants BeautiPage (or BeautiControl.com) and login, the eBeauti BeautiPrint icon will follow them and land on color products that would work for their Color Personality.
After completing eBeauti, it seems like I am receiving a lot of product recommendations. I am receiving all concealers and foundation shades, as well as all brow pencils, and it seems like I am being recommended a lot of lip and shadow shades. Is this correct?
Yes, the results are tailored to you – we have a lot of color products to choose from, especially for our Cool’s – which is a good thing. Overall, if a user is a Cool, you have many more options than a Warm. We have a much wider range of shades for a Cool, in addition to many shades that we would consider Neutral, which could be worn by either a Cool or a Warm. Once a user knows which shades are right for her in terms of Cool & Warm, and knows her Style Personality, she can go to eBeauti Trends and learn how to apply the makeup to create the look that is right for her. For example: Any Color or Style Personality can wear the Au Natural Mineral Shadow Trio, however the different personalities would apply it differently to create the perfect look for them, and someone who is more Subtle, may not use as heavy an application when it comes to the darker shades, as someone who is more Intense.
We recommend products based on her eBeauti results, and then it is personal preference from there. Currently eBeauti will show a user all shades of the foundations and concealers. Eventually, we will be able to narrow the recommendations of foundation and concealer shades, as well as brow perfecting pencils, but this will come in future generations of the program, along with many more enhancements. For now it was just designed to separate Cool and Warm color choices based on a user’s eBeauti results. Our foundations are not categorized by Cool and Warm, only color products, i.e. shadows, blush, eye and lip pencils, lip colors, etc. It is personal preference of how a user wants to break it down further than what is shown for shadows, lip colors, blush, etc…
In terms of primers, it is again a personal preference depending on the state of a user’s skin at a certain time. A primer is neither Cool nor Warm – it is Neutral. It is worn under foundation to help skin look flawless. Please see below for examples of how each can benefit a user. Currently we do not have a question pertaining to this, because this can differ depending on time of year, current environment, and many other factors. This is why we recommend all, and then the user can read the description to see which is better for her at a specific time.
BeautiControl’s Color Primer is worn under foundation to help prepare skin for a flawless look.
Natural - Natural is great for all skin types to help create a flawless look.
Mint - Mint helps tone down the appearance of flushed or red skin.
Mauve - Mauve helps to warm up sallow or yellow skin.
Yellow - Yellow helps to camouflage black or bluish undertones such as the under eye area.
In terms of our Shadow Control Creme - they can be based on skin tone, but can also be used as a universal product. Many people use our Shadow Control Creme shades as liquid (or creme) eye shadow shades. Again, if a user is a Cool, she is going to be recommended all three shades – Natural, Pink, Taupe – whereas a Warm will only be recommended Natural and Taupe.
Is eBeauti mobile-friendly?
Yes! Just like skin s.p.a., eBeauti is mobile-friendly. Videos within eBeauti Trends may not work on Apple devices, due to a conflict between Adobe Flash and Apple, however we are working on a solution to link to a BeautiControl YouTube channel when this problem occurs. Stay tuned…
Is there a paper version of the quiz?
No, there is not a paper version. There is too much calculation that occurs behind the scenes for a paper version to provide acceptable results. You can use the eBeauti Color Stylist to help determine the best colors for your clients. We will come out with a PDF on Forms on File soon that lists all of the questions and answers for the quiz, like skin s.p.a. Have your client fill this out, then you go back to your BeautiPage, and fill out the electronic quiz for them. You can print their results and use this as a follow-up with your clients who do not have computer and/or Internet access.
How should I incorporate eBeauti into my Spa?
eBeauti is a great tool to use for booking repeat Spas after you have your introduction Spa. After you have your initial Spa, which features your BC Spa Facial products, your manicure products and other BeautiControl favorites that you demonstrate during the Relaxation portion of your Spa, use eBeauti as a way to entice your guests to book a follow-up Spa. Don’t give yourself away for free. Tools like this are great to use for bookings and as a reward to your clients for their loyalty. There are trend updates, which will be updated seasonally that will be available to you to print out and take to your clients when they hold their Spa. The online videos can help them take the fear out of makeup application and what’s really cool is that every time your registered clients log onto your BeautiPage to look through the product catalogue, they will have a special icon, the BeautiPrint, on each of the products that fit their color personality, so they always make the right choices. You won’t find this kind of personalized service anywhere else.
Will eBeauti link to My Business Calendar?
Yes, just like skin s.p.a., if a user selects that she is attending a Spa, eBeauti will communicate with your My Business Calendar to let the user select which Spa they are attending. This is why it is so important to keep you future Spas updated on your My Business Calendar. If a client does not see her Spa, this may cause her concern. Having them updated makes you look even more professional.
Will eBeauti link to my Client List?
Yes, just like skin s.p.a., once a user completes eBeauti, she will drop into your Client List. You can sort your clients who have completed the quizzes, and view their results.
Will we have an eBeauti Dashboard, like we do for skin s.p.a.?
Yes. It is coming soon, as well as some enhancements to your skin s.p.a. dashboard. They will both be located under BeautiNet > Spa > Dashboards
How should I use the eBeauti Trends Forecast PDF, and where can I find it?
The exclusive trend forecast is for Consultants to offer as a Spa book/hold benefit & to encourage repeat Color Spas every season.
Don't forget to download the eBeauti Trends Fall/Winter 2011 Forecast to give to your Hostess after she has completed eBeauti and held a Spa with you, as an extra incentive for booking a Glam Spa with you. This is available on BeautiNet > Forms on File and has a Cool and Warm option. This flier will be updated twice a year for Fall/Winter (around August) and Spring/Summer (around March), and will feature the season's must-have colors in each of the color families (Cool & Warm), as well as the hottest trends for fashion and makeup.
Before your Skin Care Spa have your Hostess complete eBeauti on your BeautiPage, so you know whether she is Cool or Warm, and entice her to go ahead and book her Glam Spa with you by offering her a Booking Gift of your choice. My clients were sent to a countdown clock for eBeauti after being on my BeautiPage?
This can occur to some users after being in the shopping environment, and then selecting the eBeauti icon. This will not occur once eBeauti launches on BeautiControl.com in September. In the time being, there should be a link in the middle of the page that says, “Visit your consultants BeautiPage to complete eBeauti now!” The user should be able to select “consultants BeautiPage” and be directed back to your BeautiPage.
When is eBeauti launching on BeautiControl.com?
The first week of September.
I am unable to have multiple clients complete eBeauti on the same computer. How do I fix this?
You need to clear the cookies on your computer. It is recognizing a previous user and not letting you move forward with a different user. Visit your Internet Options within you browser. You should see an option to Clear History/Cookies, etc. Do so, and it should resolve your issue.
Why is my BeautiPrint not showing up on my Consultant’s BeautiPage and/or BeautiControl.com?
You must be logged in to view your BeautiPrint. If you link directly from the shopping categories at the bottom of the eBeauti results page, then you will only see the products recommended for you. This is a special shopping environment customized just for you, which you can only get to from your results page for eBeauti. However, if you select one of the categories in the top navigation to shop, you will not see your BeautiPrint, unless you are logged in. Your eBeauti results and BeautiPrint are linked to the email address you set up an account with and used within the quiz. The email addresses must match in order to view your results.
When I’m shopping, why is the BeautiPrint showing up on some items, but not others?
If you are in the standard shopping environment, not linked from your eBeauti results, then you will see all of the products/shades we offer. The BeautiPrint will only be next to those products/shades that are recommended for you, based on your eBeauti results. As a reminder, you must be logged in to view your BeautiPrint, and have used the same email address for your account and during the quiz.
I hope this addresses these questions for you. The most important thing to remember is FOLLOW UP AND FOLLOW THROUGH. For every client that logs on and takes the eBeauti quizzes, you will receive and email notification. Be sure to send an email response back to each of them, including the link to their results so they can review again, acknowledging their color season and style personality and offering to set up an appointment to go through their recommendations in person or offer them the ability to Host a Spa and receive a discount on their complete color set. Be sure to include your complete contact information so they know who you are and how to get in touch with you. The tool can work hard for you, but you have to follow through on the leads that it will bring you.
