This weekend I had the pleasure of spending the day with Kyle Grinnage, her wonderful husband Kym and her amazing team at her Jazzy Spring Fashion Fling. Kyle and Team turned winning the W.H.O. Unit Fun-raiser Challenge, which was awarded at Director Summit, into another fundraiser to support W.H.O. As you recall, this challenge was started on August 23rd. and ended on November 23rd. The Director, with the help of her Unit, who raised the most funds would be recognized on stage and earn the opportunity to have a special meeting arranged with one of our dynamic leaders. Well, as you know Kyle won for her unit size and she chose Gary Jones.
As you can tell by the name of the event it was all about style, fashion and glamour. Gary talked about BeautiControl - our history and future. He even did some makeovers.
Kyle is a Diva, very stylish and leads with a heart. She will be joining the W.H.O. Advisory Board and I know will be a powerhouse in helping us reach our financial needs and goals.
Back to the event! It was so much fun and so up- beat with up-scale evening makeovers, W.H.O. drawings for handbags and product baskets that were being raffled off, a Fabulous Shoe contest among all the meeting attendees, Style and Trend Updates and even a Jazz Combo to set the mood. Kyle and her Director sold tickets and it was open for area Consultants and clients/guests. Peggy Adams, also a member of the W.H.O. Advisory Board and her husband Ernest were there to lend support.
I was also at the event and had the opportunity to recognize a very special person to me personally and to the W.H.O. Foundation. Nancy Ham has been a great supporter of the W.H.O. Foundation and since I became Executive Director 9 years ago has donated almost $100,000. I was introduced to her by National Executive Director Peggy Adams. They have been the best of friends for years. In December she donated the largest single donation - $26,000. As a small token of our appreciation, I was honored to give her an engraved commemorative piece to display on her desk.
As I mentioned earlier, Kyle and her team had gotten some gift prizes for the raffle. One of the prizes was donated by Kym Grinnage, VP & General Manager of WWBT-NBC12. It was two tickets to the U.S. Open, which is a major Golf Tournament and believe me - as a golfer I would have love to have won those tickets! As a matter of fact, many of our attendees wanted those tickets so Kym, being the generous man he is, donated yet another pair that Nancy paid $250.00 for. When all the donations were tallied we had over $580! Well, it didn’t stop there. In her normal “we can raise more than that” manner, Nancy threw out the challenge that she would match that amount, but “how about getting the total up?” So the donating started and when it was all done another $255 was raised bringing the total to $835. So with Nancy matching that amount plus the $250 she paid for the second set of tickets, the Kyle Grinnage Jazzy Spring Fashion Fling raised $2000. WOW!
Other sponsors besides WWBT-NBC12 were Godiva Boutique, Omni Hotels Richmond and Style Weekly.
Kyle, thank you and Verlean Randolph, Alma Gates, Debra Moore, Edriene Ognelodh, Delphine Sanchez, Thelma Oliver, Bernetta Davis, Andrea Wright, Santenna Bailey, Odessa Roberts and Pat Smith for all your hard work in making this event such a huge success. Thank you for allowing the W.H.O. Foundation to honor a woman, Nancy Ham, the Foundation’s angel, for all she has given monetarily and her personal support in what the Foundation does.
By the way, visit www.roberthamassociaes.com and see the wonderful items they sell. Many of them would be great to use in your business.
Remember it just takes $1.00 to feed a family of 4 who are living in a shelter. Just think of how many families we can feed from this event.
There is still time to sign up for the Walk at Celebration and time to be part of the Walk Sponsorship Contest. We have some great prizes.
Have a great Memorial Day Weekend. Thank you for your support of the W.H.O. Foundation.
Cindy Turek, W.H.O. Foundation Executive Director
